IODP Information

International Orphanage Development Programme (IODP)
IODP is an Irish-registered charity working to sustainably improve the lives of institutionalised children in the developing world. All donations to the Haiti Orphan Fund are made through IODP.
The organisation began operating in India in August 2007. It has given libraries to 450 orphanages in the south India state of Kerala and has assessed 80 of those institutions with a view to providing future assistance. IODP has also joined with local charity Folo, to build Ronan House, a child support centre for 150 disadvantaged children from the fishing community near Kovalam.
The organisation has provided playgrounds, libraries and mobile phones to all 60 orphanages in Belarus, which are home to 11,000 children. IODP has also completely renovated the 11 worst orphanages in Belarus – adding roofs, windows, toilet facilities, showers, furniture and dozens of other improvements. In 6 orphanages, 100-acre tillage farms with complete suites of farm machinery were set up.
